Yellowood update

September 05, 2009 17:40 - about 1 year ago

Well guys I have some good news, from now on I will be dedicating 100% of my life to Fingerboarding I will be a professional Deckmaker/Fingerboarder. I quitted my 7 year long job as Designer in the Agency, although I love to design stuff it’s been my work for the past 10 years, during this time I had the chance to do a little bit of everything, it was getting boring and it was consuming me a lot of important time that I wanted to dedicate to Yellowood, I was working 16 hours a day and I was getting crazy, I couldn´t continue like that, so I had to decide my life between a stable and good job or a dream.. I did what my heart told me not my head, my family and friends are worried about this decision because I changed the certain for the uncertain, but I feel great, I’m happy I did it, I will be doing what I really love to do and that’s the most important thing to me, everything else will have a solution.

Yellowood is a legit company paying all taxes, we hired an accountant to take care of all that bureaucratically stuff that I really hate, we will have more people helping in the production of our products, we have better conditions to work and I will have the only thing that I didn’t had until now, time to develop ideas. We are already making the 2010 collection of graphics and we want to make new series in a more frequent basis.

Yellowood will be from now on my only income so we will have stock of decks in the website at least once a month and we will also have decks in local skate shops, we have a lot of ideas for new products so aspect some cool stuff for the future, we were also contacted by a skate factory to produce our graphics on skateboards, that was something that I always wanted to do and shows the interest that Fingerboarding is making on its older brother, so in a long run we will have Yellowood skateboards.

Along with all this stuff happening on Yellowood backstage, we are also developing a public Fingerpark with our local City Hall, the idea of a public spot/meeting place for Fingerboarding is something that we think to be crucial for its development, we have had some meetings already with them, they liked the concept and we are developing the layout for their approval, the idea is to build a marble and concrete outdoor Fingerpark.

I just wanted to share this big step of my life and future of Yellowood with you guys, the fact that more people are becoming Fingerboard professionals means more dedication to the scene, more events, more improvements and better products.

One Love. Fingerboarding.

I wish you luck in this big step of life. Congrats on the skateboards. If you can, try to distribute them in the U.S.A? I have a feeling that this was a good choice.

this is great to hear! and i really thank you for doing all this for the finger boarding scene! but your gonna have to work hard and make a lot of decks in order for you to live from making finger boarding deck and trucks. prices in europe are also very high but if you work hard i think you can pull it off!
